Bull Kelp & Red Cedar Basket

Cedar and Bull Kelp BasketBull kelp has become one of my favorite materials to work with.  It’s a fascinating plant with many uses.  Fish habitat, medicine, cosmetics, and paint just to name a few.  When dried in the sun, bull kelp takes on many beautiful colors and textures and turns a basket into a whimsical, one of a kind, piece of artwork.  We’ll be using cedar bark in this basket as a foundational aid.  Please bring scissors, needle-nosed pliers, a needle with a very large eye, a small soaker bucket, and something to share for a potluck lunch.
